THE ECOFLEXX METHODOLOGY
STAIRWAYS TO A CLEANER PLANET
How to systematically document, reduce, and report the environmental impact of products and services according to your needs:
1. Outline the product creation process.
2. Record the CO2 footprints of in-house operations and direct suppliers.
3. Record the CO2 footprints of the supply chain
-
Supplier certificates as PCFs
-
Supplier CO2 emissions down to the raw material level
4.Capture CO2 emissions throughout the entire product lifecycle
-
Product
-
Start: Outline the main and partial steps of your product creation process to lay the foundation for further analysis and optimization.
-
Emission Types: Identify materials, logistics steps, and energy sources to provide focal points for future refinement.
-
AI Support: If desired, Ecoflexx AI can generate typical production steps based on your input that you can refine, expand, and use for comparison.
-
Result: The “Eco Pitch” provides an overview of the captured production steps and emission types.
-
- Core Product
-
In-House Production: Assign each step of the in-house production process its own footprint. Add data for materials, logistics effort, and energy consumption, then link these to the relevant emission factors.
-
Import / Automation: Well-prepared data can be imported from existing data sources (databases, Excel) or third-party systems.
-
Supplier Emissions: Apply the same process to supplies from direct suppliers. If a cumulative emission value is available, such as an external PCF or EPD, use that.
-
Result: The “Short Report” is generated by summing up the emission values of selected footprints.
- Supply Chain
-
Refinement of Emissions: Replace estimates with precise primary data to improve the accuracy of emission values.
-
Supply Chain Recording: Record emissions down to the raw material level, including all sub-suppliers.
-
Use of PCF Data: Utilize available cumulative PCF data for sections of the supply chain wherever possible.
-
Supplier Information: Request digital information from suppliers when data is missing.
-
AI Support: With precise, anonymized data, Ecoflexx AI can help with optimization and decarbonization.
-
Result: The “Product Carbon Footprint” covers the entire production and supply chain, a detailed procedural description, and KPIs for easy product comparison.
- Lifecycle
-
Production and More: Emissions from all production steps and the supply chain up to the factory gate are assigned to “Production.” However, significant environmental impacts also arise from the product’s use on-site.
-
Transport and Setup: This phase includes all emissions that occur from the factory gate to the site, including the product’s installation and setup.
-
Operation Phase: Encompasses emissions throughout the product’s entire operational lifetime, from commissioning to the end of its intended useful life.
-
End of Life: Covers emissions from disposal, thermal recovery, or recycling of the product.
-
Result: The “Lifecycle PCF” accounts for all emissions of a product or service, from raw materials to end-of-life, grouped by lifecycle phase and footprint. The key performance indicator “TCOCO₂” totals all CO₂ emissions, calculates their costs in euros, and adds the acquisition costs.
